How Jobs Work

Jobs in Rensselaer County are occupations that players can take on for either earning money or roleplay purposes. They are accessed through the jobs clipboard on the map. Interactive jobs show "Start" next to them and pay in-game cash when you complete tasks. Non-Interactive (Passive) jobs show "Join" and give you a name tag above your head indicating your role, but they do not pay any cash. Most jobs are free to start — the only exception is DOT, which requires the DOT Gamepass.

Interactive Jobs (Pay Cash)

These jobs involve active participation and earn you in-game money:

• RoSwift — Ride-sharing and delivery job (introduced in 4.6.0, December 2024; Phase 2 in 5.5.0). Pick up passengers or packages and drive them to destinations.
• RoDash — Food and grocery delivery (added in 5.9.4, May 2026). Similar to RoSwift but focused on restaurant and grocery orders.
• Grocery Cashier — Interactive grocery store job (added in 5.9.0, Spring 2026). Work the register at the grocery store.
• Gas Station Cashier — Work at gas stations around the map.
• Snow Plow — Seasonal winter job (added in 5.0.0/5.8.0). Clear snow from roads during winter events.
• Santa Delivery — Seasonal holiday job. Deliver packages during the Christmas/winter event.
• New York State Police (NYSP) — Law enforcement. Patrol roads, issue citations, use police equipment.
• East Greenbush Police (EGPD) — Local law enforcement for the Town of East Greenbush.
• SWAT — Special Weapons and Tactics. Requires Premium Law Enforcement Gamepass for vehicles.
• Department of Transportation (DOT) — Road maintenance and traffic management. Requires DOT Gamepass to access.

Non-Interactive / Passive Jobs (Roleplay Only)

These jobs do not pay cash. They give you a role title above your head for roleplay purposes:

• Civilian — Default role for all players. No special abilities.
• Criminal — Roleplay as an outlaw. Does not pay cash (crime income comes from other mechanics).

Job Menu Quirks

The Fandom wiki documents several known quirks in the jobs menu. "Burrito Bros Employee" is listed twice — this appears to be a bug. "Munchkin' Donuts" is misspelled as "Muchkin Donuts" and has been since the 2023 Revamp. Interactive jobs display "Start" while Non-Interactive jobs display "Join," making it easy to distinguish cash-paying roles from roleplay-only ones at a glance.

Choosing the Right Job

For beginners who need cash: start with RoSwift or RoDash delivery — they are flexible, pay well, and do not require any Gamepass. Grocery and Gas Station Cashier jobs are also good starter options. For roleplay-focused players: Civilian, Criminal, Doctor, Mechanic, and restaurant employee jobs provide name tags and immersion without income expectations. For law enforcement RP: NYSP and EGPD are the standard police roles, with SWAT as the elite tier. For seasonal earning: Snow Plow and Santa Delivery provide event-specific income during winter and holiday updates.
